Hello fellow history lover!
This week:
We begin to explore the extraordinary treasures in the 1000 year old archive at Worcester Cathedral in my latest virtual tour, on the British History Youtube Channel.
The 111th anniversary of the sinking of RMS Titanic took place yesterday, 15th April.
In my latest Tea Time History Chat Live I reviewed the Treason and Execution Exhibitions in more detail.
All of this items this week have a video to go with them, simply click on the thumbnail, or the ‘watch now’ button for each.
Treasures of a 1000-year old Archive
The incredible treasures at Worcester Cathedral library and archive, which includes the Worcester Antiphoner. Every Cathedral would have had an Antiphoner, which is a liturgical service book with music notation. It set out the services which would have been heard at the Cathedral. It was created in the 1230’s, at Worcester by the monks there, and is an incredibly rare survivor as they were all supposed to be burned during the reformation.
