The Battle of Tewkesbury was the last head to head battle between the Yorkists and Lancastrians.
As the sun set on Tewkesbury Abbey on the 4th May 1471, the Lancastrian line had been extinguished. Henry VI's only son and heir was dead, he himself was in captivity in the Tower of London and his wife, Margaret of Anjou, had nothing left to fight for.
In this interview with tour guide and battlefields expert, Julian Humphrys, we cover the run up to the battle, Margaret of Anjou's role, how the battle was won, and what really happened in the Abbey!
