Holbein at the Tudor Court
Tea Time History Chat Live
In this week’s Tea Time History Chat Live I talked about the Holbein at the Tudor Court Exhibition, which I visited last week at Buckingham Palace. I chose a few pieces from the collection to talk about specifically as well as give advice on how to see the collection if you can’t make it to London before it closes, in April.
You can watch that episode on Youtube or catch up on the go with the podcast.
Historian Interview - Dr Nicola Tallis
This week I had the absolute delight of interviewing Dr Nicola Tallis ahead of the release of her fifth book, ‘Young Elizabeth. Prisoner. Princess. Queen,’ on the 29th February (UK, USA and Canada. Australia is a little later).
I asked Nicola, described by The Times as a “zealous destroyer of myth,” firstly why she didn’t already have a t-shirt with that on, and secondly what myths she’d managed to bust in her new book. We talked about the relationships Elizabeth had, both good and bad, growing up and how all these shaped her personality and attitude to ruling.
We also delved into the Thomas Seymour ‘affair’ and the effects on Elizabeth of her sister, Mary I’s, reign.
Release Date: Youtube and Podcast - 25th February 2024
